Help & Instructions
If you feel anything stated here doesn’t make sense, or is just plain WRONG, then please let me know (blog@comeupsmiling.com); your suggestions would be appreciated.
- To leave a comment related to a particular post, you do not need to be registered; however, your email address is required (but will not be published).
- On the front page of the Dream Forum, you’ll see the latest post(s). If you wish to comment, then either click on View or the Comment link at the bottom of the post. Next, fill in your details in the ‘Leave a Reply’ boxes. The comment won’t appear immediately as it is subject to a brief review to avoid spam and inappropriate use of the blog, certainly not for me to act as a censor. Once one comment has been accepted, then your future comments are not subject to review – although I reserve the right to remove offensive comments and posts.
- Even though your comment won’t appear to the rest of the forum’s visitors until it’s been checked, you’ll still see it and you can edit (or delete) it if you wish.
- Adding of posts and administering the forum is based around access levels and roles. There are three basic roles: Subscriber (can read comments/comment, level 0); Contributor (can write and manage their posts but not publish posts, level 1); Author (can publish and manage their own posts, level 2).
- By registering, your forum access will be increased to level 1, and you can now write your own posts for the Dream Forum. Initially, the first one will be reviewed, but - as with the comments – additional posts will simply be subject to occasional review to ensure that the forum is not being used inappropriately, and your access will thus be increased to level 2.
- To register, simply click on the link to the right under ‘Meta’.
- An image will be added to your comment if you are signed up with a globally registered avatar; for details go to Gravatar. Signing up and use is free, and the image (avatar) chosen will be used as your avatar whenever you use a suitable blog. With a free gravatar.com account, you are allowed two gravatars, and can vary between the two.
- Free gravatar images can be found at various sites, such as AllAvatars, and these can then be uploaded to the gravatar.com site, and subsequently used for blogs and forums.
- As mentioned above, there is a link to make comments at the bottom of each post. Also at the bottom of each post, is a link to other posts that exist in a particular category.
