A Chakra can be visualised as a rotating wheel of energy, or vortex. This looks like
an ice-cream cone with the top flattened into the shape of a wheel. These energy centres
act as valves, controlling the flow of energy within us, and how well each Chakra functions affects
our well-being. Decisions we make throughout life in turn affect the chakras, sometimes blocking the flow
of energy. Each Chakra spins at its own unique frequency, drawing energy via channels from the
etheric body into the physical body.
The etheric body is the inner part of your body's aura;
some people can see it as a milky-white layer surrounding the body; on Kirlian photographs
it is shown as a fluctuating pulse of white light. Chakras are not themselves physical but extensions of
our conciousness.

Spiritual, emotional, mental and physical energy are drawn through your chakras, which interact
with your body to keep you healthy. If the chakras are blocked by emotional or phyical distress;
this causes them to spin at a different speed to normal. Healers sense disturbances in the chakras' energy
fields, and are able to realign the energy flow. Crystals can also be used to help improve the energy flow.
However, the time aspect is crucial, too short and they won't work; too long and the disturbance will actually
get worse. When you feel the chakra pulse, then the crystal should be removed; this can be anywhere between one
and ten minutes. The Chakras are all interconnected, and thus a blockage in one area can produce a variety of effects.
Your body has hundreds of these energy centres within it. Not everyone agrees as to their names,
but it is accepted that there are seven major ones. (Often the Base Chakra may be called
the Root, and the Third Eye the Brow Chakra, but these are just different aspects of the same vortex)
