There are an enormous number of special effects available -
simply click on the headings below to view examples. It's
important to remember though that the more complex the effect, the longer
it will take to load.
Such effects would normally be part of a complete page containing
additional text and images, with the special effects used to get
a particular message across, or as a means of focusing
the visitor's attention onto a specific area. In practice, websites
typically confine effects to a single Flash
introduction page and/or a Java/Javascript menu.
The use of special effects must be carefully weighed against
the extra time it will take to load - too many can easily become irritating and their
movement will become less fluent. Without broadband, many visitors would rather go
elsewhere than wait for a time-consuming Flash introduction.
