The first classic syle for both doorway and internal pages, is with a banner across the top and
hyperlinks placed directly below the banner or to one side.
The remainder of the page is typically divided into two or more columns (although this
structure may not always be obvious); the background can also be any colour or
image.
Buttons which may 'depress' as the mouse moves over them are just one of
various alternative ways to add hyperlinks to the rest of the site. Such effects also tend to add
interest to each page - but as with other special effects, their number and complexity
is usually deliberately restricted, otherwise the loading time of such pages would be
increased dramatically.
With 'frames', the central part of the page moves while the
banner and index remain static. Once popular, frames are now frowned on in design terms,
with button menus similarly decreasing in popularity.
